Plantronics Discovery 975 Bluetooth Headset (Review & Giveaway - 5/9)

As a mom, I juggle about a million things at once, trying desperately to keep it all under control. When my cell phone rings and I have to take the call, (while washing the dishes, teaching the kids, and with an 18 month old attached to my hip), I don't have a free hand to talk. So what's a girl to do? Why, get a bluetooth headset, of course!The Plantronics Discovery 975, with a retail value of $129, is the perfect headset for busy moms. It's also great for anyone - man or woman - who needs the ability to talk on the phone without using their hands. With so many states now enforcing a cell phone ban, this headset allows you to talk on the phone safely while keeping your focus on the road. (Please note: I have no idea if the cell phone laws allow you to use a bluetooth while driving. Please check that out for your state, and always use caution while driving.)
My Review of the Plantronics Discovery 975
I was recently sent a Plantronics Discovery 975 Bluetooth to test out and get my honest review. I have to tell you how jealous my husband was when I received it. He's been dying to have a bluetooth for months. So, being the kind, loving wife that I am, I decided we'd connect the bluetooth to his phone first and let him have a go at it. Connecting was super easy. In fact, it was so easy that even my husband - the man who hates technology because he has no idea how to use it - was able to pair the device all on his own. He quickly and easily figured out how to make phone calls and mess with the volume on the device. I was so proud of him.
I let him test it out for a few days. He normally calls me several times a day, but he was loving being able to make all the calls hands free. Plus, knowing that if I had to call him while he was driving home, (an hour and a half long trip), I didn't have to worry about him fumbling for the phone. With one click, he was connected to the bluetooth.After the first day, he started complaining that his ear was hurting from wearing the device all the time. Since my husband and I both have such small ears, I figured the gel ear-tip he was using was too big. I switched it to the smallest one the Discovery 975 came with, and it made all the difference in the world. My husband then spent the next week with the Discovery 975 as an extension of his ear. Part of me started to wonder if he loved it more than he loved me.
At first, I had a lot of trouble pairing the device with my iPhone - which didn't make any sense, since the Discovery 975 is sold in the Apple store. Turns out, I was just an idiot. Apparently, I need to deal with technology that's more complex than the Discovery 975. It was so easy that I just couldn't get it. But, I did get it, so I stole the device from hubby so that I could use it for a day and also give my honest opinion of it.
I immediately saw why my husband loved it so much. I could barely feel the device in my ear. I could get things done around the house and have full use of both hands. I even wore it while grocery shopping, (with all 5 kids), and talked to a friend while in the store. I can't even begin to tell you how much this device has helped my husband and I both out.Here are just a few of the features that he and I both love:
- After being on both the making and receiving end of phone calls with the Discovery 975, we were both amazed at how clearly we could hear each other. Even with his windows down in his truck, I was still able to hear him clearly when he was using the device.
- It fits comfortably. Even after wearing it all day, it's so light that you can barely tell you've got it in.
- It's SO easy to use. Seriously - if my husband can use it - anyone can use it.
- The Discovery 975 comes with a rechargeable case that actually triples the talk time to 15 hours! Plus, the case has an LCD screen that displays both the case and earpiece charge levels.
- It can be paired with more than one phone. I love that we can take turns using it. Although I fear a second one may be in our future because my husband might try to steal this from me for good. But, that's ok, because they have a similar one in pink!
All in all, this is a fantastic little device. My husband and I both love it, and we will be using it for many years to come.

I love that it has varying sizes of earpieces. I always find that earpieces in devices are too big for my ears, so it would be great to have one that doesn't hurt!

The protection against wind noise is pretty impressive since I can never hear my husband over the wind because he REFUSES to roll the windows up when he is in the car and on the phone...It is SO ANNOYING and the reason I NEED to win this for him :)
