With 5 kids, we don't get to go on vacations very often. It's just never in the budget. So, instead, we take some time and do a "staycation." If you don't know what a staycation is, here's how Wikipedia defines it:
Earlier this year, hubby and I ventured off on a staycation without the kids. We spent a couple of nights in an Atlanta hotel and spent one day visiting the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coke. The next day, we caught Motocross. It was so nice to get away from the stress of everyday life and just relax. We didn't go far away at all, and it sure cost a whole lot less than if we had gone away on a vacation. No plane tickets, no extra luggage fees, no taxi cabs, no rental cars. Just the two of us, having a wonderful time.

A staycation (also spelled stay-cation, stacation, or staykation) is a neologism for a period of time in which an individual or family stays at home and relaxes at home or takes day trips from their home to area attractions.Living where we do, we have tons of options for staycations: Pigeon Forge, TN; Gatlinburg, TN; Atlanta..... tons and tons of options.

I have a friend visitign this stummer and I've been researching thigns to do in this area. There's so many neat things to do. Within two hours of where I live there are scenic railroads, a mountaincoaster (like a roller coaster, but on a mountain), trails for hiking, etc.

Not much in my area but we are about 2 hrs from DFW area and kots to do there. Id love to stay over night in a hotel, use the pool, eat out, shop, sight see with hubby! Maybe go to the zoo, 6th floor museum in Dallas (kennedy assasination site) just enjoy some time alone!

I'd like to take our motor home to cherokkee NC,to camp for a night by the creek, the ride alone would be breath taking seeing the rodadendrums in bloom or wild life along the way. We too live near the places you named to visit and so cherokkee is a place not to far to enjoy that is so nice with the beautiful blue ridge parkway ride there. Camping is cheaper than a motel & you take along your own groceries to grill which taste so much better than fixed at home and you feel freshed when you return. This is a great staycation pack to enjoy thanks

We take staycations on the coast of our home state, Maine. There are so many things to see and do here! I love eating lobster cooked outside in a lobster shack. And there are quaint towns to visit and shop in.
