Bedtime has gotten so much better around here!

I've posted countless times about what a horrible sleeper Lucy is. When she finally crashes, she's up 15 - 20 times a night on average. This is frustrating, not to mention exhausting.

This week - even with our jubilee at church - I decided we were going to start a toddler bedtime routine for her and stick to it. I meant it, too. I was going to let her cry it out in her crib, even if it took her 3 hours to cry herself to sleep.

On Monday night, I put her pj's on, brushed her teeth, read her 2 stories, then put her in her crib. She cried for 45 minutes before she finally gave up and fell asleep.

On Tuesday and Wednesday nights, we did the exact same thing, only she didn't make a sound after I put her in her bed. She just fell right to sleep.

Last night, we did the same routine, and she cried for a few minutes before falling asleep.

Tonight, she came to me and said, "Bed, Mommy" at around 8pm. We went through the routine, put her in her bed, and she rolled over and went right to sleep.

Not only has she put herself to sleep in her bed, but she has stayed asleep all night. No getting up 15 - 20 times, she's slept all night and doesn't get up before 9am. Praise the LORD!

That means that after 2+ years, I am *finally* able to get some sleep. Parker is going about 4 hours during the night before feeding again, and only nurses for a second or two before going back to sleep. What a blessing.

I've tried bedtime routines before with Lucy, but they never worked. I've always gotten frustrated and just given up on them. I'm SO glad that it's worked this time and we're all able to finally get some rest. Finally.

I am glad her bedtime routine is working. Keep up the good work mom. I am glad to hear Parker is sleeping 4 hours at a time. He must be doing pretty well too.

That's FANTASTIC!! I wish I had the guts to do it with Jules...I just can't do 10 minutes of crying let alone 45. GOOD FOR YOU!!!

Lucy is obviously thanking you too!

Crying it out definitely has it's place with kids (although not as early as some parent's claim it to be for). I'm so glad she's sleeping better! Sleep deprivation is on the top of my list of sure fire ways to make me crazy.

PRAISE GOD!!!!!!!

I love hearing stories like that! Evan is going to bed really late, but he's lasting at least 6 hours before his next feed. I am hoping to put him on a sleep "regime" very soon!!!
